Meet the Editors

David T. Canon is professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His teaching and research interests are in American political institutions, especially Congress. He is the author of Actors, Athletes, and Astronauts: Political Amateurs in the U.S. Congress; Race, Redistricting, and Representation: The Unintended Consequences of Black-Majority Districts (winner of the Richard F. Fenno Prize); and various articles and book chapters.

John J. Coleman is professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His teaching and research interests are in American political development, political parties and elections,political behavior, and campaign finance.The winner of the Emerging Scholar Award from the political organizations and parties section of the American Political Science Association, he is the author of Party Decline in America: Policy, Politics, and the Fiscal State and various articles and book chapters.

Kenneth R. Mayer is professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His teaching and research interests focus on American political institutions, defense policy, and campaign finance. He is the author of With the Stroke of a Pen: Executive Orders and Presidential Power (winner of the Richard E. Neustadt Award), and The Political Economy of Defense Contracting. His current work analyzes state campaign finance reform.
