Disability Requests
If you would like alternative access to our books, take the following steps.
- Search for the title at http://www.rfbd.org or http://www.gutenberg.org. Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic carry over 800 Norton titles. We rely primarily on Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic to provide access to our titles for readers with disabilities. Project Gutenberg offers a large selection of literary classics in electronic form.
- If the title is not listed, and published after 2000, submit a request using our Help Desk. Please be aware that books published in, or prior to 2000, may not be available in an electronic format. In most instances, we will provide pdf files that can be read aloud (using JAWS or the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is free). Titles we need to order from our printer may take up to two months to arrive. We expect our readers to have purchased a hard copy of the text before we provide the book in electronic format.
- If you want a title not covered above, we may still be able to provide the book in electronic form. However, we will have to scan the printed book, which takes time and is much more costly. Use our Help Desk to ask about this possibility.
